5 Steps to Clear and Radiant Skin

NMAC

This month we give you a peek inside Clinical Aesthetician Cherrece Salmon-Shirley’s skin care regime. Known for her clear and radiant complexion, Cherrece shares her five step ritual…

  1. Cleansing.
Obviously cleansing is an important step to get rid of all the makeup and dirt that gathers on our faces throughout the day. However, Cherrece says it’s one many people overlook. “I can’t emphasise the importance of cleansing twice a day enough,” she said. “I personally use an acne cleanser at times when my skin feels more oily as it contains salicylic acid which helps keep the excess sebum at bay.” On other days, she uses an anti-aging cleanser.

Bonus Tip: Instead of cleansing with just your hands, try using a disposable facial sponge. These help to gently exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells. Just make sure to wash and properly dry the sponge in between uses.
  2. Exfoliate
Cherrece does this at least twice a week and also treats herself to a microdermabrasion treatment once per month. This step helps to resurface the skin.
  3. Mask
Depending on the time of year, Cherrece’s skin can either feel dry or oily. She uses Dermalogica’s Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque when she feels her skin needs a boost of nourishment; or the Sebum Clearing Masque when her skin feels oily. She adds a mask to her evening regimen twice a week.
  4. Toner
For Cherrece, this step is “a must”. She sprays the toner on a cotton square and is often surprised by how much dirt and dead skin comes off, even after she’s thoroughly cleansed.
  5. MoisturiserLast, but not least, Cherrece hydrates the skin with a moisturiser containing SPF. She also applies an anti-aging serum to the eyes, but only at night. These are her secrets to smooth, beautiful looking skin - no matter what your age.
